Top Family and Top Fundraiser team, Team Rivera, has represented their family every year for Powwow for Hope and raised a total of $4,908 for 2015. Team Rivera members included Ramona, Loretta, Joy, Michael, David, Stephen, Matilda, Sandy, Enrica, Armando, Samson, Robert, Aisha, Betsy and another Michael. The team raised $600 by selling raffle tickets for homemade Pendleton items like rabbits, purses and pillows. The Team also received donations from friends, family, cancer supporters, Indian Health Board employees, and people at the Osseo and Augsburg Fairview Powwow. Family members from Alaska, Arizona, Atlanta, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, North Dakota, Virginia and Canada all donated.Team Rivera also sold food and drinks, and some of their biggest sellers were popcorn and snow cones. During last year’s 2014the Powwow for Hope, family members attended from many states for the 20th year memorial of their mother, sister, aunt and grandmother Lorraine General Rivera, who battled renal cell cancer for many years. Team Rivera truly wants to say Nyah wey to everyone who contributed, especially Barack Obama ($10 donation) and is looking forward to next year’s challenge!
